Le bag and le make up

I hate bringing around tons of stuff and my shoulders tend to hurt easily so I don't like bringing around a huge bag. I have a couple of designer bags which I use from time to time but I'm going to show you guys my EVERYDAY bag. Its just a simple sling bag that fits all the basic stuff I need.

Forever 21 leather sling bag

Ralph Lauren Polo 1 for Women, Ray-ban Sunglasses, MAC Cosmetics Powder
YSL Patent Wallet, Clinique Chubby Stick in Watermelon, Salinase and keys

I have to wear make up all the time for taping, trust me I have a little suitcase worth of make up but in "real life" I'm not really a big make up fan. I mean I love it and all but I just choose not to wear a lot or sometimes close to none make up. Wala akong paki if may eye bags ako or kita pimples ko ok lang yun I'd rather everyone see my imperfections than me looking like I ate crayons and its all seeping through my skin. Hihihihi.

 Basics

Naked Urban Decay, MAC Studio Fix NC 35,  MAC Blush in Well Dressed,
Shu Uemura Gel Concealer in medium light, MAC Concealer in NC 30,
Laura Mercier Translucent Powder,  MAC Pro Longwear Concealer NC 20

Its always good to have your basics, you need concealer to cover up unwanted blemishes and powder to go on top of your concealer, the trick to buying powder is that when you apply it you make sure its the same color as your neck cause you don't want to look like a geisha. By applying blush to just the apple of your cheeks you get this fresh look and then top it all off with translucent powder so your make up sets. Also, when buying eye shadow palettes make sure you get one with colors that you are sure you will use or else sayang lang.

Shu Uemura in Pink Coral and Rosy Mauve, MAC in CremeSheen, Lancome Deep Reddish Brown,
LipSurgence Lip Tint in Lust, Clinique Chubby Stick in Woppin' Watermelon and Curviest Caramel and tint from Korea

I'm not really a fan of lipstick because I always lick and bite my lips so it usually wears off or goes on to my teeth (gross) and I hate it when it fades, meron lang sa corners of my lips but the inner part has no lipstick on it. My lips also tend to dry really easily so I've found a couple of lipsticks that go perfect for all my first world problems! When I buy lipstick nowadays I always test them to see if it suits my skin color and I make sure that they are always the type of lipsticks that have moisturizers. Look good and feel good!

MAC Studio Fix Lash, MAC Brow Set in GirlBoy, NARS eyeliner in nude, Prestige brow pen

If you're the type of girl who hates wearing falsies, like me, then this is the perfect mascara for you. I swear when I wear this my eyelashes look so fake but so real (anoraw), most people think its a downer when mascara isn't waterproof but I'm quite the opposite, I HATE waterproof mascara, its so hard to take off so I like this one. Mehehehe. I have really dark and thick eyebrows so I don't really need to fill them in anymore with a pencil so I just run this GirlBoy gel through 'em and POWWWW artista eyebrows ka teh. Yan ang sikreto. White eyeliner is so out and nude eyeliner is the new thing. Simple pimple.

Blush brush from Forever21, MAC Cosmetics fluff brush, pambunot hahaha, eyelash curler, Laura Mercier sponge (?)

If you're a clean freak then by all means use your hands to apply your make up but if not then use a brush but PLEASE make sure you wash your brushes on a regular basis because bacteria builds up there and if it touches your skin then nako teh, you're gonna be a pizza face and you don't want that. Pambunot to keep your eyebrows clean, eyelash curler to give you that VAVAVOOM look and a random sponge. Cause.... Wala lang.

Make-up is a fun and wonderful thing but remember iba pa rin kapag freshhhh!

PH - NYC

One afternoon I got bored and I ended up at my friend Saab's apartment. We suddenly had this bright idea to make a video! It started off as #firstworldproblems but then it ended up this way and we don't know how exactly! Hahaha anyways enjoy!

I would honestly like to think that I am not a bad actress, this is just me being a total gago hahaha but after this post I'm actually going to my first set of acting workshops with GMA. I love workshops, most artists find them nakakatamad but I'm always eager to learn something new and add new techniques to my acting ~skillllzz~!

And I got some really awesome news!!!!!

Last year I did an Indie film called "Catnip" with Maxene Magalona, it was directed by Kevin Dayrit and it's going to be shown in the New York Asian Film Festival along with another short film that I did called Vesuvius with was directed by Erik Matti! This is one of the most amazing things that has ever happened to me, in my showbiz career.

Catnip follows the story of two friends with coffee and cream personalities: Liv (as in live) and Cieca (means blind).

Liv lives with her two apathetic siblings, an emotionally devoid mother, and an obsessive compulsive, bipolar, and practically psychotic father. She is an introvert at home, constraining her true personality because everything she does is wrong due to overblown parental ego. Whenever shes not at home, she has this live-fast-die-young attitude, enjoying life while she can. She enjoys the company of her friend Cieca since she can be herself in front of her and be loved for who she is despite her rough attitude. She practically abuses Cieca as her daily dose of pain reliever.

Cieca is a silent, bored girl who views life as repetitive and fleeting. She has a loud mind, often talks to herself while scrutinizing her surroundings, predicting things before they happen since everything in her eyes is a cliché. Her mother died when she was young and lived alone ever since. Her father sends her excessive money for living expenses to cover up for not being there for her. Cieca found the perfect company with Liv. She is amused by Livs avant garde-esque unpredictability and sees her as something new, something to look forward to, and values her as a friend.

Vesuvius by Erik Matti

I really hope one day I could be one of those artists that have contributed something wonderful and worthwhile to this industry. Yes, sometimes it is flawed but we have so many talented writers, directors and actors out there. Help uplift this industry and support Philippine Cinema!

I'm back biiiiizzzzitttchez

Hello! Hi. Heeeey.. Ciao. Musta brad?

I don't know how to start this blog post, so I'll just word vomit.
First things first. Anyareh sakin? Anyareh sa blog ko? I started this blog promising myself that I would NOT abandon it, and thats exactly what I did, but in my defense it was because I forgot my password, how stupid of me right? Anyways I have absolutely nothing to do today so I have decided to get some things done. 1. I'm updating my iPhone so I have to rely on my laptop right now which leads to number 2. I have yet again stumbled on my ~forgotten~ blog. So hello there dear readers (if I have any) here I am again, but this time I will give you an update on my beautiful, crazy life.

For the past few months that I have been gone, I have done nothing but worked and can I just say I am simply HAPPY. I love my job, I love everything about it, even all the bad press and hate that I sometimes get, I have learned to love it, maybe now I have realised that it is part of the job (even though it shouldn't be) I have simply learned to accept it. Maybe because I have finally realised that I am NOT the only artist in the world who gets hate comments, I guess I was being a bit too sensitive about it all. I'm not saying I'm insensitive now, but I'm just better than I was 2-3 years ago. Now, I have learned to keep my mouth shut about certain things, I have learned to just be civil and honestly make the whole situation fun. Before when someone would call me names, I would cry, now when they call me names it makes me a tad bit stronger. When people would call me fat/ugly I would eat and stay up all night sulking, now I eat healthier and workout instead. Instead of sulking and making myself feel bad, what I do is, I turn all the negativity into something positive. I use it to my advantage, I turn it all around. #WORDVOMIT1

The only thing I don't like about my job is that its quite hard to go to school. Oh baka isipin niyo ang arte-arte mo naman, kung gusto may paraan kung ayaw magdadahilan. Thats seriously not the case, I was supposed to go to school this term, I'm an incoming sophomore pa naman, bye FROSHIE me. But ang pangit talaga ng schedule this term!!! I can only get Tuesday and Thursday schedule since I work MWF. Pero anyareh 2 subjects lang ang available? Huhuhu so nanghinayang ako, cause hello aminin naman natin Benilde is so expensive. So I talked to Megan and my mom about it and they were all just like "k, just go to work first, and go to school next term" casual lang diba? Hahahahaha! But no, I miss school. I was so excited pa naman because I was finally going to be able to take up my majors! As most of you know I love to cook and sakto my course is BS-HRIM majoring in Culinary and this was finally my chance to experience that! Oh well papel, next term nalang.
#WORDVOMIT2

Right now I'm doing a project on GMA-7, called Mundo Mo'y Akin I play Darlene Carbonel, isang mayaman na girlaloo who is actually very very very very nice but the only reason why she is driven to be the psycho, mean girl that she is now is simply because all she wants is the love and attention that she feels like she hasn't been getting from her family and now ex- Jerome. I enjoy playing this character so much, especially since its my first time to be a "kontrabida" in a teleserye. There are so many things that I could do with her, so many endless possibilities and so many angles that I could explore! I'm also really loving the fact that the audience does understand her, I've been getting tweets like "Darlene is so annoying but you can't help but feel "awa" towards her"! Because thats exactly the point! Infairness you guys get it ha. *clap clap*
#WORDVOMIT3

So thats my #WORDVOMIT segment guys. I really missed blogging, well its more like an open diary what I just did. I'm not as interesting as you all think I am, I'm just a girl who loves her family and friends, likes movies and going out, pandas and music, I want to travel the world. I'm like any other person, the only difference is you see me on TV. #feelingsikat

I like to joke around too.

Besh Baking Sesh

I'm back guys! As if naman namiss niyo ako. Chos!
So a month ago my besh Adrianne came over to my place and we we're supposed to just hang out, watch movies and be lazy together until we had this brilliant idea that we should bake some cookies! As most of you know Adrianne is my besh and my stylist but he is actually an AMAZING baker. I got some great tips from him while we had our little baking session, like instead of using an electric mixer (tamad much?) if you want to have soft cookies you should mix it with a spatula instead so thats exactly what we did and infairness naman ang sarap ng cookies namin. Yes, f na f ko. We actually had a little competition to see who was the best baker and hands down, panalo ako. Echos lang mas magaling talaga si Adrianne. Love you besh!!

It's not you, it's your metabolism

After the Christmas holidays I promised myself that I was going to work hard to get my "Boracay Body" back, that I was going to start the year right by working out religiously and eating healthy again, but of course I'm only human and totally "forgot" about my said goal. TEEHEE! It got so bad that sometimes all I wanted to do was stay in and eat all the junk food in sight and if that was gone, go out and buy some more. I would always eat out and have fast food deliveries at past midnight (big no-no) and promise myself that the next day I would get on that treadmill and run, but I never did. I had no motivation whatsoever to change my eating habits or my lifestyle, for that matter. That is until I had a photo shoot and I couldn't fit into the clothes that my stylist brought for me to wear. From then on I said "Thats it, this is going to stop and give me a month I'll be back to my old self, but better!" And thats exactly what I did and exactly what I'm doing now!

I recently enrolled in the program "Sure Slim". What I like most about this program is that it isn't just about losing weight (thats just a bonus) cause really its not how you look on the outside but whats going on in the inside. They help correct your metabolism and encourage you to do this program for the lifestyle you get out of it. After all being healthy isn't just about looking good and depriving yourself for months and months until you get your desired body, its a lifestyle that you have to standby in order to MAINTAIN your healthy and gorgeous looking body.

What they do is they test your blood to see what types of food are good for you and what aren't, then they give you a list of all the food you can have and a meal program that goes along with it. You can have them deliver all your meals prepared via Yellow Halo or you can actually prepare your meals all by yourself, which is what I do! Here are a few examples of my meals!

For breakfast I had oatmeal and a glass of milk

For lunch I had tuna marinated in balsamic vinegar, oregano,
thyme and lemon with grilled cucumbers, eggplant and steamed cauliflower

For dinner I had steak fillet marinated in balsamic vinegar, rosemary
and oregano and steamed cauliflower, grilled eggplant and cucumbers

Getting healthy or going on a diet isn't exactly the hardest thing to do, just put your mind to it and you WILL see results. God gave us such wonderful bodies and its a shame that we all harm this gift he has given us by abusing it with food that ruins it.

Good eating habits + dedication = Great metabolism, lower stress levels, healthy lifestyle and a hot body not just for the summer time but all year round!

Best-friends Forever! (Version: Long Distance)

When I was in grade school I remember that there was this unspoken rule that you could only have one best-friend but as I grew up I began to realize that I can't have only one best-friend! I've met so many people in my life, had a bunch of friends, gained some and even lost some but what I know is that I have 2 of the most amazing best-friends a girl could ask for. If you follow me on twitter you would know that Alex (@lexyquevedo) is one of my childhood friends, believe me when we first met we we're the worst of enemies and then later on became best-friends, but thats another story! My other best-friend is Micah (@micahcbrown) whom I've been friends for, for about 5 years already. Sadly a year ago she moved to the US along with her brother Michael.

This was the day Micah left me.. Huhuhu. Ako talaga?! #DramaQueen
Hinanap ko pa yan sa Instagram ko ah! Effort.

Its been a year and a month since she's moved but we still remain best-friends til this day! How you ask? (as if may nagtatanong) Well because we both make an effort to be friends! Its as simple as keeping the communication there, we don't skype/tweet/talk everyday but when we do we actually make the most out of it! Its even harder because of the time difference!

We skype from time to time and talk about EVERYTHING that has happened from the moment we stopped skyping the last til we start our new skype session. Our calls usually last for about 3-5 hours! It could even be simple things like tweeting each other, for example if we see something on twitter that reminds us of each other we RT it to each other or we simply reminisce or make "kulit" each other. Chos

If were not talking about what we've been up to lately we usually end up reminiscing. Micah and I would do almost everything together! During the summer/holidays she would always be with my family if she wasn't with her family friends in Alabang, because her mom was already in the US by that time. My sister Megan and my mom would call her the "adopted Young". Every family event if Micah wasn't there people would end up looking for her haha! I remember one summer she spent a good 3 weeks with me and all we did was watch movies and cook! She would always accompany me to work, even though all my other friends would find it so boring she wouldn't because she apparently "enjoyed watching people". Yeah, sometimes shes a weirdo but I love her anyways.

Megans party 2 or 3 years ago

Some random party 2 or 3 years later

Since I am done reminiscing and sweet talking about my BFF I shall now get to the questions that you guys have sent me about "Friendship". So this is me giving out my own personal opinion about situations and if you don't like it, edi wag. Chos lang siyempre. But seriously, if you don't like it, its also fine! Ok here we go this segment is called. #FeelingTherapist (kainis ba yung #? cheznut)

FEELING THERAPIST

From Brent: What if you're long time best friends or in other term "tropa" finds a new company and was like forgetting your built friendship?

Well theres nothing wrong with having new friends or finding new friends, because everyone has the right to have as many friends as they want but if it comes to the point that they are "forgetting" about your friendship I suggest that you just let them. Maybe its not really forgetting but more of they are growing up, want to experiment and meet new people. It doesn't mean that they are leaving you behind but I suggest that you do the same and try and make room for new friends but don't go as far as forgetting your old ones. If ever your friend/friends do come back and try and rekindle your old friendship then don't be the bitter one and just forgive and forget.

From Denielle: Hi Lauren! I'm Denielle and one of my best-friends now moved to Saipan 3 years ago. We have this "friend monthsary" thing. Every month we have something special for each other. Kind of "magastos" but it's worth it. My question is how do you stay connected to each other?  How do you keep it sweet even though you're miles and miles apart? A big shout-out to my very beautiful long-distance girlfriend Jujolinne Asis! More power to your blog Lo.

Hey Denielle! I think its really sweet that you and your friend have a "friend monthsary" and give each other gifts! Thank God for technology! Cause thats how Micah and I stay connected with each other, if we're not skyping we are either tweeting or iMessaging each other. People think long distance friendships are hard but its really just about the communication.

From Anonymous: Hi Lo! It's my ex-bff's birthday today, she's a classmate. We stopped talking last Jan. 16 and she told me "We can be friends, just not like before." I gave her a gift yesterday but my other guy bestfriend is the one who gave it to her. Until now, di man lang sya magparamdam. One month na kaming HINDI nag-uusap. What to do? :( Should I greet her? :( And yesterday too is our friendsary. T_____T Help? :(

Kudos to you for making an effort! Ganun talaga, minsan may tampuhan sa friendships pero if you're both willing to work it out and push your egos/pride aside and forgive one another then it will work. A word of advice (meganun?) she obviously wants space, so just give that to her first, don't be too pushy! But still be there for her as a friend, if she suddenly goes up to you or needs you just be the way you used to be to her. Hope you guys can become good friends again!

Sorry if I couldn't entertain all of the questions sent in but I hope I was a help to those questions I answered! Just remember that distance doesn't matter when it comes to any sort of relationship!

Love,
Lauren

I MISS YOU SO MUCH MICAH CARMEL BROWN<3

Hometown Glory

Don't get me wrong I looooove Manila, I kinda grew up here (grade 6-present), I work, live and go to school here but theres just something about my hometown, Subic Bay that I love so much! I guess its the fact that I could go to the beach whenever I want since its only a 15 minute drive, I could sleep with the windows open because the air there is so fresh, the food is amazeballs, especially if you know where to go! But the thing I love most about Subic isn't actually Subic itself, but all the memories that I have with my family and my friends who have become my family. Here comes the nostalgic memories (barf)! I remember every Holy Week we would all get together and have our traditional camping night! We would set up tents, have a bbq and just stay up all night talking and playing games, the funny part is we would just do it in our friends backyard and never an actual forrest. Mga scaredy cats kasi. Haha! Anyways back to my actual blog post, masyado na akong nag-ooff topic! Haha!

So for the weekend I went to Subic with my brother Victor and best-friend Alex! We stayed at our old house there and visited some of our friends, we mostly went there because our friend Diana is going back to Korea to study and we wouldn't see her again until December so in a way it was her little despedida! We stayed up all night playing mind games and monopoly deal then the next day we grabbed some lunch at "Koko Buri" inside Subic which has really good chicken it gave BonChon a run for its money and then we headed to our favorite place called "The Secret Beach". Its not actually called that, we're the only ones who call it that because its a beach that no one owns, not a lot of people know about it and its honestly one of the best beaches I have ever been to. The waters are so calm and clear, white sands and lots of fishies swimming around! I once saw a star fish there as big as my face! My friend Cheska says that sometimes there are jellyfish and sharks (scary much). So after all my blabbing here comes the part I know you guys want.

I live in Manila but Subic Bay will always be my home. I always keep on going back because this is the place where I grew up, my family is here and all the friends I grew up with experienced first loves with, fought with, laughed and cried with. The kids who would sleep at each others houses and talked all night with. This is where I would spend all the holidays. Watch a movie at Times Square and grab a snack at Wimpys! Went to school here, fell in love and out of love but the best of all this is the place where I met the greatest friends I could ever wish for.
